Update 18 Jan – Capped Places, Critical Workers Place Requests, Technology Support & Christmas DVD

Dear Parents,

As we start the 3rd week of the lockdown, I think we are all beginning to find our new ways of
working. Thank you to all, who have replied to the Remote Learning Technology Questionnaire. We
have begun to recommission some of our current devices in school for Home Learning and hope to
get these out to families this week, rather than wait for the government devices to arrive. We
also remind families that they can request print outs from school for collection from the school
office. If you have not already filled in the form, please follow the link below.

Critical Worker and Vulnerable Children
The numbers of children in school each week is continuing to rise with 95 children (44% of the
school) accessing the provision at some point this week. This has meant that we have had to look
again at the risk assessment and make the decision that we will not let any class group go over 15
on any one day
, which in most cases is half of the class. Anything over this number could not be
considered a ‘small group’. This may mean that we have to contact families of children in the
larger groups and ask them to find alternative arrangements for the day when the group is over 15.
Although all of the critical worker children in school are eligible for a place under the current guidance, we ask
that you do not take the place just because you can and carefully consider other options such as
childcare bubbles and keeping them at home if a non-keyworker is at home.

We also ask that you only take places for the days you are required to work and not on your days
off.

We have to do all we can to ensure that risk to the children, staff and families is reduced by
keeping the numbers mixing in school small. We will still be required to close class bubbles if there
is a positive case within the school community. We may also need to close class bubbles if
staffing numbers fall below a safe level.

Here is the link for the form for the week beginning 25th Jan.

Children who attend school will need to wear their school uniform and will be able to request a
school dinner. The form will close on Friday at 12noon and you will receive the dinner menu for the
following week once the form has closed and numbers calculated. If the children are arriving and
leaving at the normal school hours, they can be dropped off/collected at their classroom door.
Otherwise, please use the Main Reception door.

Christmas DVD
You will have all received a message directing you to information regarding the ordering of the
DVDs of our Christmas Production of A Magical Christmas Jigsaw. These can be ordered through
Parent Pay. As many of our families asked for ways to donate money to school over the Christmas
period, we have made the cost of the DVDs a donation with a minimum value of £2. Thank you to
those families who have already ordered.

This school closure seems to be much more challenging for everyone; partly due to the external
pressures on families and schools; partly due to the lack of sun and partly due to the extensive
length of time we have all been living with these restrictions. We have to hope that the end is in
sight, but in the meantime, we need to support one another. Please do not be afraid to contact
school if there is anyway we can support you and your family.

Kindest Regards

Caroline Ainley
