World Book Week (8th – 12th March)

Dear Parents,

In light of schools reopening fully on 8th March, we have decided to move our World Book Week to Monday 8th – Friday 12th March so that everyone can join in at school! Although it will look a little different this year, we will still be celebrating literacy with a week filled with fun, book-themed activities.

  • Virtual Book Fair

Acorns to Oaks are holding a Virtual Book Fair between Monday 8th and Monday 15th March. You can visit their special Facebook page for Hook (click here) and see a whole host of books tailored to our school and at great prices.

  • Design School’s New Library Competition

We are curious as to whether any of the children in school have ambitions to be an interior designer! We would love the children to have a go at redesigning our school library. It needs updating to be a more welcoming and inspiring place. We would like to make a space that really serves us well! Think about a decorative theme and how all children in school could use it. Where would the bookcases be? What would the seating and reading areas be like? Can you think of anything else to make the library a great space to use?

The winner will see their design come to life as we use it to re-vamp our library and may even get to help in the transformation!

  • World Book Day Parade – Friday 12th March

The children having the opportunity to dress as their favourite character from a book is one of our most loved events of World Book Week, and so in order that the whole school can join in we have made our costume day FRIDAY 12TH MARCH this year. As usual, there will be winners per class and we will have a virtual costume parade during Mrs Ainley’s online assembly. Please also remember that not all book characters need a special, bought costume and taking part is optional!

The kitchen will also be rustling up a special book themed lunch on Friday 12th, so keep an eye out for the menu!

  • Shelfies

We would like to make a display in school of “shelfies” – a photo of each child against their bookcase or favourite reading area. Please could you email your shelfies to

We think World Book Week is going to be a great way to welcome all our children back to school.

Kind regards

Mrs C Ainley
