Letter from the Headteacher – Staggered Starts, Class Teachers, Covid Restrictions, Attendance, School Dinners, School Streets, Changes in Staffing, Thanks

Dear Parents,

I can hardly believe we are at the end of this academic year. We have lots of Information to share with you to help you prepare for September.

Staggered Starts and Class Teachers
Please see the table below to find out when your child’s start and finish time will be next year. We have listened to families, who tell us they have preferred the staggered start and finish and with the ending of the School Streets project (please see attached letter), we think It would be wise to retain some element of this system into the future.

Class Teacher Start Time Finish Time
Reception Mrs Heslop Between 8.30am – 8.45am Between 3pm – 3.15pm
1 Miss Ablett Between 8.45am – 9am Between 3.15pm – 3.30pm
2 Mrs Mitchell/Mrs Bucknall Between 8.30am – 8.45am Between 3pm – 3.15pm
3 Mrs Bainton Between 8.45am – 9am Between 3.15pm – 3.30pm

5 Miss Yewman Between 8.45am – 9am Between 3.15pm – 3.30pm
6 Mr Stockdale Between 8.30am – 8.45am Between 3pm – 3.15pm

Where there are siblings with different timings, please use the middle point of the two times I.e. 8.45am and 3.15pm.

Children will return to school on Tuesday 7th September.

Covid Restrictions
Schools have received notification that from September, we will no longer be asking children to self-Isolate If they have been In close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID. However, we are being asked to continue to look for signs and symptoms of COVID and will need to ask children to Isolate and/or test when symptoms display.

We know from experience that the requirements can change over night and I am attending a Public Health briefing for Headteachers on 1st September so will let you know of any changes If necessary. All other restrictions such as non-mixing of bubbles, wearing masks on the playground etc will be lifted on our return.

This year has been a challenging year with children needing to Isolate and we know that this has had an Impact on children being able to attend school. From September, with the restrictions lifted we are going to be working hard to ensure all children are In school receiving the quality education they deserve. We will be closely monitoring attendance and working together with families to ensure all children are In school for the maximum time possible.

We have created a page on our website which gives you more Information about the policies we follow for attendance. The new Scholarpack App allows you to see your child’s attendance rates on the home screen so you can keep a track for yourself (you should have received an email with details of how to access the app and a link-up code for this, but please speak to the school office if you need assistance).

School Absence – Attendance in School

School Absence – Medical & Illness

School Absence – Exceptional Circumstances

School Dinners
For a couple of years, we have been running the school dinners at a loss so unfortunately, we are needing to put up school dinners to £2.50 per day from September. This will be updated on Parent Pay. Reception and KS1 children (Class 1 and Class 2) will not be affected by this, as they receive Universal Free School Meals. We will be in touch in September regarding Free School Meals in all year groups for those families who may be eligible for the benefit.

School Streets
Along with this letter, you should receive a letter explaining that the School Streets project has come to an end and we no longer have permission to recommend The Blacksmith Arms as a Park and Stride venue. This will mean that the restrictions on Garth Lane will no longer be In place. We would please ask, for the safety of our children and their families, that people drive with extreme caution and park with courtesy during pick up and drop off times. The yellow zigzags outside the school gates continue to be a no parking area during the restricted signs.

Changes In Staffing
It is with great sadness that today we will be saying goodbye to Mr Tutty (Year 6 teacher) and Miss Rhodes (TA). They have both worked Incredibly hard for the children and we wish them well with their new adventures.

We are welcoming Mr Stockdale to the teaching team and Miss Deeks, Miss Anderson, Mrs Birdsall, Miss Piatkowska and Mrs Craighan to our support staff team.

We would like to send our best wishes to Miss Knowles (Year 4 teacher) who Is getting married over the summer and will return as Mrs White In September.

I would like to send out my personal thanks to you all. We have faced many challenges this year as a school and a community and I am frequently overwhelmed by the support our families give to the staff and children here.

I hope you all manage to enjoy some time together this summer and return refreshed and ready to go In September.

Kindest Regards

Caroline Ainley
