World Book Day 2023

World Book Day 2023

Dear Parents

World Book Day – Thursday 2nd March

On Thursday 2nd March it is World Book Day! As we value reading very highly, and we are all going to take part in this special day to celebrate the joy of books and reading. During the day the children will be taking part in a range of different reading-related activities.

Favourite Book Character Costumes

We are asking for the children to come to school dressed as their favourite book character on World Book Day. As always, each child will receive a World Book Day £1 token to be redeemed at a retailer of your choice. Please do not go to any great expense to provide a costume. Many costumes can be made from things you already have and creative accessories!

Bookworm Snapshots

We are asking the children to share a photo of them taken reading in an interesting place and would be delighted if these could be sent to us by email to [email protected]. We are really excited to see all the creative reading places!

Preloved Book Sale (Tuesday 28 February – Thursday 2 March)

We are sure you will agree that access to books is really important to foster a love for them! On Tuesday 28th FebruaryWednesday 1st March and Thursday 2nd March, we will be holding a Preloved Book Sale in the hall between 3:15 and 4:00pm, where children will have an opportunity to purchase secondhand books. The proceeds of the sale will go to school funds, and we would be really grateful if you could have a hunt around for any primary age-appropriate books you may be able to donate to the sale. These can be dropped off at the school office.

Book Fair

Scholastic Book Fayre will be in school on 7th March and will be collected on 14th. It will be open between 3pm and 4pm in the main entrance for children to browse and purchase books available. Mrs Lewis will be there collecting payment. If you wish, you can collect your child from 3pm to look around the stalls.  If you can’t be there, the children will have an opportunity to go around with an adult in school, so please send them with some money in a named wallet, purse or envelope if they wish to buy something.

Don’t forget to bring the voucher given out on World Book Day and tokens for discounts!

We look forward to seeing you there. Thank you for your kind and continued support.

Yours sincerely

Mrs C M Ainley
