Water World

Daily Activities

  • Keep a diary about your time at home
  • Practice your 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times-tables
  • Reading (treat the books from Bug-Club online as though they are your reading books)
  • Access Times-Tables Rock Stars (for 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times-tables)
  • Practice writing the year 3 & 4 keywords
  • Try to make somebody smile every day (See sheet in home learning pack for log-in details)

I would love to transform the classroom into an underwater paradise for our topic “Water world”!

So, can you make an under the sea animal from the resources you have at home? The finished pieces will decorate our classroom. You could maybe make a jellyfish, a shark or a fish! Be imaginative.

Thinking about our precious planet, I would like you to recycle materials from your home in an interesting and useful way!

Can you find some materials/objects that were going to be thrown away and turn them into something you could use? You need your inventor hat on for this one! For example, an old cereal box could be decorated to become a memory box, or a plastic bottle could become a bird feeder. Show me your design and finished product.

Write instructions for your recycling invention challenge (challenge 2).

Can you write an acrostic poem for “OCEAN”?

Can you recreate your own version of this piece of artwork? As you can see you need to draw a whale shape and decorate the inside with a beautiful, colourful scene that you would see under the sea.

Practice your 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8 times table as much as you can. I would like you to try and be as confident as possible counting up in steps of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8 because one of my next challenges will be practising bigger multiplication sums written down.

I found this stunning image and it sparked my imagination! I wonder, could you use this image to either write a short descriptive piece of writing? In a descriptive way, tell me what you see. Think about if you were there, what could you hear? What might you feel?

Example:

The magical stairway twists and turns as it stretches high into the sky. A rainbow sea of flowers sit softly, like a cushion, at the edge.

Then, you could try drawing the image yourself!

Choose an animal that lives in the water that interests you. This could be any animal that lives in any type of water. I would then like you to research this animal and create a fact file all about it! You will need to include a drawing of the animal, tell me where in the world you can find it, its lifespan, diet, its measurements and then try and include some interesting facts or information you find that you think I might not know!

Can you recreate this very effective piece of artwork using recycled materials from your home? You don’t have to draw a whale at the top, it could be any sea animal.
