Welcome to the second half of our Summer Term home learning activities, continuing the topic of Life is a Rollercoaster!

Activity Grid

Create a piece of music that you might hear on a fairground ride (Curriculum objective – ​compose, play and perform music using instruments (or something you can turn into an instrument) with increasing accuracy, fluency and control)

Research theme parks around Europe and plot on a map of Europe (Curriculum Objective – ​Use maps atlases and digital maps to locate European countries concentrating on key human characteristics, countries and major cities)

Conduct an experiment testing different materials effectiveness as parachutes (e.g. paper, plastic bag, bin bag, j-cloth) (Curriculum objective – ​Identify the effects of air resistance that act between moving surface)

Create a piece of artwork inspired by a fairground  (Curriculum objective – ​Improve mastery of art and design techniques including drawing and painting)

Keep a diary of what you do every day and how you are feeling.

Conduct on experiment testing how quickly different shaped tinfoil boats move through water (e.g. round, square, triangular) (Curriculum objective – ​Identify the effects of water resistance that act between moving surfaces)

Research existing themeparks and create a table to compare their features (e.g. location, size, when opened, number of visitors etc.) (Curriculum objective – ​Use search technologies effectively to collect data and present data)

Design a mascot for a theme park (Curriculum objective – ​Investigate an analyse a range of existing products and design an appealing product with annotated sketches)

Conduct a scientific investigation to discover which materials will dissolve in liquid (e.g. sugar, salt, sand, coffee, pepper) (Curriculum objective – ​Know that some materials will dissolve in liquid to form a solution.)
