School Lunches
School Meals
Freshly cooked meals are prepared in the school kitchen. Payment for these is made weekly on a Monday morning. We are a cashless school, and payment is preferred by our online payment system, Parentpay (www.parentpay.com) to avoid cash handling. The meals from September 2023 will be £2.60 each.
Any child not requiring a school lunch may bring a packed lunch (no drinks). However we do not have facilities for cold storage of these lunches, therefore this may be a deciding factor on what parents put in the pack-ups. Shelves are provided in each classroom for the safe keeping of the packed lunches. Jugs of water will be provided for all children and in addition to this there will be an option of milk or low-sugar fruit juice (in accordance with national standards).
Free School Meals
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes are eligible for free school meals. However parents still have the choice of sending a packed lunch if they so wish.
Packed lunches are strongly encouraged to be healthy. Information on this is available from www.eatwell.gov.ukwhere you can find advice on the amounts of different food groups advised for children’s Packed Lunches.
In the interests of dental health we ask that children do not bring sweets or biscuits to school but if they wish to have a snack at the morning break, a piece of fresh fruit or cheese may be brought. Wrapped fruit substitutes are discouraged as part of our healthy eating campaign and they cause litter and cleaning problems for our caretaking staff, as well as sticking to shoes and clothing also.
Pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 receive “free fruit for schools” under a government scheme, on a daily basis.
Allergens
All of our menus comply with the EU Food information for Consumer Regulation. A full list of “Allergen Information” is available on request in school. For further information please visit www.food.gov.uk.
Parents
The menu for the full half term will be emailed out by Google Forms. If you do not receive this, please check your “junk” items. Please complete by the date requested so that we can input the selections and pass on to our Kitchen staff. See below the lunch menus for this term.
Menus are repeated every three weeks during the term, but MAY change with little or no notice depending on produce supply.
